Masaaki Kawano is an Executive Officer at Orix Corporation and has been a member of the Board of Directors of RobecoSAM AG since 2016. He also sits on the Supervisory Board of Robeco. Masaaki Kawano began his career at Orix in 1982 and held various positions over the decades, including Managing Director of Orix Aviation Systems, Deputy Head of Global Business Headquarters and Chief Financial Officer of Orix Leasing Malaysia and was most recently responsible for Orix Corporate Communications, Legal and External Relations, Compliance, and Business Development. Currently, Masaaki Kawano is Head of Enterprise Risk Management Headquarters. He graduated from the Law Department of Kwansei Gaikun University in 1982.



Gilbert Van Hassel  
Gilbert Van Hassel has been CEO and chairman of the Executive Committee of Robeco since September 2016. Gilbert Van Hassel has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry, mainly in asset and wealth management. Until 2013 he was Global CEO of ING Investment Management and Member of the Insurance and Asset Management Board of ING. Before joining ING in 2007, he worked for JP Morgan where he held various executive positions in Europe, Asia and the US. Gilbert Van Hassel has a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Economics from the University of Antwerp St Ignatius (Belgium), an MBA, with a major in International Finance from the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium), and a Master of Science in Finance from Purdue University (US).

Karin van Baardwijk is currently COO and member of the Executive Committee of Robeco. She has been Chief IT Officer and Head of Global Information Services at Robeco since May 2014. As of 2016 she is also responsible for the back office operations. Previously, she headed the Operational Risk Management department, focusing on internal control for the IT systems and business processes. Karin Van Baardwijk graduated from the University of Utrecht and holds a Master’s degree in Business Economics and a Master’s degree in Corporate Law.
