Albert Gnägi, PhD, Chairman of the Board
Albert Gnägi (1944), a resident of Zollikon, has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of RobecoSAM AG (formerly SAM Group Holding AG) since early 2007. Gnägi was a successful independent attorney for more than 30 years and enjoys an outstanding reputation, particularly in his field of specialization: corporate, commercial and inheritance law. In addition to his professional know-how, Gnägi has extensive experience from his membership on the boards of other companies, including his positions as Chairman of the Board of listed Forbo Holding AG (2005-2014), and formerly of Selecta Group (1997-2001) and Immuno International AG (1991-1997). Moreover, his commitment extends to activities in socially-oriented institutions, namely in his functions as former President of the Sanitas Hospital Foundation and Member of the Board of Trustees of See-Spital and Pestalozzi Foundation.
Masaaki Kawano, Vice President of the Board
Masaaki Kawano (1960) is an Executive Officer at Orix Corporation and has been a member of the Board of Directors of RobecoSAM AG since 2016. He also sits on the Supervisory Board at Robeco. Massaki Kawano began his career at Orix in 1982 and held various positions over the decades, including Managing Director of Orix Aviation Systems, Deputy Head of Global Business Headquarters and Chief Financial Officer of Orix Leasing Malaysia. Currently, Masaaki Kawano is responsible for managing the following departments within Orix: Corporate Communications, Legal and External Relations, Compliance, Business Development and Robeco Group. He graduated from the Department of Law, Kwansei Gaikun University in 1982.
Marcel Rohner, PhD, Member of the Board
Marcel Rohner (1964) has been a member of the Board of Directors of RobecoSAM AG since 2015. He began his career in 1992 at Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) and then at the Swiss Bank Corporation (SBC), entities which later merged into UBS AG, where he continued his career. In 2002 he became member of the Group Executive Board at UBS AG and was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer in 2007. Currently, Marcel Rohner is member of the Board of Directors at Union Bancaire Privée, Neue Helvetische Bank and QLAB Invest. Additionally, he is on the Board of several financial services and alternative investment companies, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Economic Department at the University of Zurich. Marcel Rohner is the holder of a Master’s degree in Macroeconomics (1989) and a PhD in Econometrics (1992) from the University of Zurich.
